For immediate release, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 Freehold, N.J. – The MAGCON Tour is coming to the iPlay America Event Center April 12-13 and New Jersey teens are all-a-twitter about it.

Seriously. Check Twitter. Or Vine. Or YouTube. Or Instagram. Or ask a teenage girl. It’s so popular, in fact, that fans overloaded iPlayAmerica.com last week, causing it to crash, when they were trying to buy tickets to a special MAGCON Tour Pre-Party closed to the general public. The MAGCON Family will be there having fun. Once the site was live again, tickets sold out in mere seconds.

“‘MAGCON?'” you ask, “what on earth is ‘MAGCON?'”

MAGCON stands for “Meet and Greet Convention.” According to the MAGCONtour.com web site, “MAGCON Tour began in September of 2013. Bart Bordelon, the founder and general manager of MAGCON, befriended a young social media star and sprung up an amazing idea. The idea – to hold an event with several up and coming stars from social media, bringing online celebrities into the real world while supporting an Anti-Bullying Campaign as many of the young stars have been bullied throughout their lives.”

These young social media stars aren’t on television shows (yet). They are known for their personal postings on very public social media channels that are so popular with young people today including Vine, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. They upload Vlogs (video blogs) to Vine and YouTube and promote those posts through Twitter and Instagram. No Facebook for them, no siree. That’s for old people. Well, OK, they might be on Facebook, but their fame comes from their chatter and teenage silliness, and occasional insightful commentary, on the social media sites mentioned earlier. They have millions – yes MILLIONS – of followers.

The MAGCON Family includes Nash Grier, of Charlotte, N.C., Cameron Dallas, of Chino Hills, Calif., Taylor Caniff of Princeton, Ind., Jack & Jack (Gilinsky & Johnson) of Omaha, Neb., DJ Mahogany LOX of Los Angeles, Calif. (the lone girl in the group, who is granddaughter to Motown founder Berry Gordy and sister to Sky Blu of pop duo LMFAO and Big Bad University), Shawn Mendes of Pickering, Ontario, Aaron Carpenter of Shreveport, La., Matthew Espinosa of Woodbridge, Va., Carter Reynolds of Connelly Springs, N.C., and the Family Patriarch Bart Bordelon of Shreveport, La. The MAGCON Family, as they like to be called, sets up weekend events to meet and mingle with their fans so as to least interfere with real life stuff, like their high school classes. Fans can purchase VIP tickets which allow them time to meet and take photos with their favorite MAGCON Family members or regular tickets which allow them to be in the same room as the various MAGCON Family stars get up on stage and, well, do whatever. They might take questions; if they play a musical instrument, they might break it out; they might just generally goof around. It’s not a performance, really, it’s more of a … well, it’s kind of a … hmmm. Well, it’s a Meet and Greet Convention. And teenage girls flock to attend.

The tickets for the April 12-13 MAGCON Tour stop at iPlay America sold out in a mere 10 seconds when they went on sale March 27.

“It’s a crazy popular event,” said Jessica Schwartz, director of marketing for iPlay America. “But it’s right up our alley to bring in-demand events like this to Central New Jersey. iPlay America is the place to be.”
