Last Saturday night a trio of uber-talented and enthusiastic acts electrified a fired up crowd at Freehold, New Jersey’s premiere family entertainment facility, iPlay America, in a high-octane concert extravaganza. The fast-rising pop sensation Erin Bowman opened. She was followed by the hyper-kinetic Philadelphia-based duo called The Weekend Riot. And, The Voice’s Christina Grimmie headlined the exhilarating event.

Erin Bowman

Taking the stage with a vibrant confidence, it became immediately clear that Erin Bowman has what it takes to be a bona fide pop star. Opening with her hit, “Trouble,” then proceeding to nail every song in her set, whether it was dazzling to tracks or mesmerizing with just her voice and a ukulele (“Keep Me Warm”), Bowman delivered a thrilling performance. She bristles with genuine talent, sparkles with unbridled charisma, and when it comes to grasp of the craft, the girl knows how to write hits. It won’t be long till this stellar New Jersey stunner is out there, touring the globe with other can-do-it-all artists like Charlie XCX.

The Weekend Riot

Someone smashed open a charisma pinata and a cornucopia of irresistible charm rained down on singer Johnny Costa and guitarist Bruce Wiegner to create the effervescent magic of The Weekend Riot. These two gifted performers have so much boundless energy that even caffeine is jealous of what they can do to a crowd! Animated, in-the-moment, inspired, off-the-charts, full-throttled Wow! More than a party, The Weekend Riot is an irrepressible two-man festival!

Christina Grimmie

Christina Grimmie straddles two worlds. As proven in front of the massive live audience of NBC’s “The Voice,” the artist can captivate an entire nation with her staggering gift: a voice that is so undeniably beautiful, powerfully moving, and universally inspiring that listening becomes a religious experience. In short, when Grimmie sings, she can bring your soul to its knees. But on the other end, the artist is a vibrant blaze of upbeat fun. Christina is a new breed of star. She possesses all the virtuoso skills of a true diva worthy of entertaining royalty in the Carnegie Halls of the world, yet she’s probably not fully content unless she’s noshing on pizza and doing some hardcore gaming in between sold-out arena stops. Grimmie is as real and down-to-earth as it gets, and Team Grimmie is as much an expansive group of friends as it is an earnest fan base for the artist. In her performance at iPlay America, Christina offered the audience every single one of her many wonderful aspects. There are a number of pop stars who could learn quite a bit from this remarkable talent.
