Freehold, NJ – As part of its Lyrics for Life event series designed to help the community tune in to their health, Hackensack Meridian Health will host Dance4Life, a dance-a-thon to raise funds for K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in Neptune, N.J.

“The work done by the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital is so important and iPlay America is dedicated to their cause,” said Jessica Schwartz, vice president of sales and marketing for iPlay America. “We are excited that Hackensack Meridian Health selected iPlay America to host the event and we want the community to come out and give… their support, their enthusiasm… Donations would be wonderful! This is going to be an amazing event! If you love kids, if you love dancing, if you want to make a difference, then you have to be here!”

The event will take place at iPlay America in Freehold, N.J. on Saturday, September 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of dance styles, with dance teams from throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties leading the way. The featured dance studios include: Not Your Ordinary Dancers, Middletown; Broadway Bound Dance Center, Toms River NJ; Next Level All Star Dance, Matawan NJ; and Shall We Dance, Toms River. The event will also include health information, a kids corner with events, giveaways, and more.

Throughout the day, dance teams will showcase their talent and then teach the community simple steps from many genres of dance, including salsa, hip-hop, Broadway and more, with periods of freestyle dance for people to groove in whatever style comes most naturally.

Open to all ages, the dance-a-thon will celebrate the benefits of dance, which include cardiovascular health, bone and joint strength, and mood elevation, all while raising vital funds for programs and services at the children’s hospital.

“Dance is a fun exercise for the mind, body, and spirit,” says Vivian Kominos, M.D., an integrative medicine specialist and integrative cardiologist. “Not only will this dance-a-thon provide positive health benefits for the participants, but it will also raise money for hospitalized children, who may not be able to experience the joy of dance. It’s going to be a great event and we encourage everyone to join us for this fun day.”

Entry is free and walk-in participants are welcome, however a suggested donation of $5.00 per person is requested. Dancers can also secure sponsors to support them through the event. All participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or present a consent form. Members of the public, and teams, are encouraged to register in advance by calling 1-800-560-9990 or by visiting www.meridianhealth.com/community/tuned-in-to-your-health.aspx. Sponsorship forms and the parental consent form are also available at that location.
